Bolts and Nuts in Dubai

Bolts and nuts are the most common fasteners on any job, and getting them right is mostly about matching the grade, thread and finish. Mufaddal Fasteners supplies hex, allen, flange, carriage, U- and T-bolts with matching nuts to contractors, workshops and manufacturers in Dubai.

This page explains what to specify so that the quotation you receive is for the right product.

What to specify when you order

A complete bolt specification has six parts: type (for example hex bolt), diameter and thread pitch (for example M12 x 1.75), length, strength grade or material, finish and standard. For a nut you need the type, thread, grade and finish. The more of these you give us, the faster and more accurately we can quote.

  • Type and head style: hex, allen, flange, carriage
  • Thread: metric coarse (M12 x 1.75), metric fine, or inch (UNC/UNF)
  • Length, grade or material, finish and standard (DIN, ISO, ASTM, BS)

Match the bolt grade with the nut grade

A strong bolt with a weak nut will strip the nut thread before the bolt reaches its capacity. As a rule, a property class 8.8 bolt is paired with a class 8 nut, a 10.9 bolt with a class 10 nut, and a 12.9 bolt with a class 12 nut. Stainless steel fasteners are normally paired with a nut in the same stainless grade.

Our bolt grades guide explains what the numbers mean and where each grade is used.

Standards: DIN, ISO, ASTM and BS

Many everyday bolts exist in both DIN and ISO versions with almost the same dimensions — for example DIN 933 and ISO 4017 are both fully threaded hex bolts, DIN 931 and ISO 4014 are partially threaded, and DIN 934 and ISO 4032 are hex nuts. ASTM standards (such as A307, A193 and A325) are common in oil and gas and structural work. Tell us the standard in your specification and we will quote to it.

Finishes for Dubai conditions

Indoors, zinc plating (including yellow zinc) is usually enough. Outdoors and in humid or coastal locations, hot-dip galvanised or stainless steel 304/316 lasts far longer. See the guides below for a detailed comparison.

Frequently Asked Questions

What does M12 x 1.75 mean?
M12 is a metric thread with a 12 mm nominal diameter, and 1.75 is the thread pitch (the distance between threads in mm) — the standard coarse pitch for M12.
Can I use a stainless nut on a galvanised bolt?
It is better to avoid mixing metals. Different metals in contact can cause galvanic corrosion in damp conditions, so use matching materials where possible.
Do you stock both metric and inch sizes?
Tell us the size and thread you need and we will confirm availability. The product pages list the thread types available for each item.
